MONTGOMERY COUNTY OPEN TO CONCLUDE THE 2025 RACING SEASON AT FONDA

Fonda, NY – It was labeled online and social media recently as “One Last Showdown at the Track of Champions,” a two day event that will take place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds track on Friday and Saturday September 26 and 27. The two-day program features a variety of divisions led by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modifieds and Sportsman.
On Saturday (Sept. 27), the STSS Modified HYTORC of New York North Region takes part in a $7,200-to-win, $720-to-start 50-lap program, the penultimate round of the series’ North Region title fight. STSS Sportsman compete in the Madsen Overhead Doors Inc. North Region final round, a 25-lap main paying $1,572 to the winner and championship points.

Also on the Saturday program are the Pro Stocks (American Racer or Hoosier tires) paying $1,000 to win, Fonda Fair Four Cylinders ($150 to win both Single and Dual Cam) and a 50-lap Enduro offering a $500 top prize. Friday night (Sept. 26) kicks off the finale headlined by 358-Modifieds (running under DIRTcar rules and Hoosier tires) for 30 laps with $3,500 to win, $500 for 10th and $200 to start.
Also on the Friday docket: Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman (20 laps, $500 to win), Online Performance Parts/Stone Motorsports Street Stocks (20 laps, $500 to win), Fonda Fair Four Cylinders ($150 to win both Single and Dual Cam) and practice rounds for the STSS Modifieds and Sportsman (two redraw positions available for each division).
Below is a list of the winners in each of the regular divisions that competed every Saturday at the “Track of Champions” for the 2025 season.
A total of 18 events were held this season in the Amsterdam Truck Center Modified division with nine different drivers winning those events led by Stewart Friesen who had a total of five wins before he was sidelined after a horrifying wreck in Canada. Following behind Friesen were Ronnie Johnson with three wins (two big block and one 358); Alex Yankowski (one big block and one 358), Cody Clark, and Rocky Warner (one big block and 1 358) all with two wins apiece. Single wins in the Modified division went to Jack Lehner, Danny Varin, Michael Trautschold, and Matt Sheppard. Yankowski was crowned the 2025 Track Champion in the division.
A total of 16 events were held this season in the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman division with eight different drivers winning those events led by Chad Edwards and Tyler Peet who both scored four wins each in 2025. Stephen Gray and Josh Coonradt both scored two wins while Dylan Madsen, Chip Constantino, Tyler Bobar, and Mark Mortensen all scored one win apiece. Edwards was crowned the 2025 Track Champion in the division.
Fourteen total events were held this season in the Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stock division with eight different drivers winning those events. Beau Ballard and Ivan Joslin led the way with three wins apiece followed by Kenny Gates and Luke Horning with two wins apiece. Single event wins went to Shane Playford, Nick Stone, Andy Graves, and Jason Morrison. Ballard was crowned the 2025 Track Champion in the division.
Six different drivers scored wins in the Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman division in a total of 12 events led by Corky Warner with four victories. Randy Cosselman, Camron Hotaling, and Mason Gray all scored two wins apiece with Rocco Constantino and Jim Malia both single event winners. Warner was crowned the 2025 Track Champion in the division.
There were a total of 15 events held in the Fonda Fair Four Cylinder division, with winners declared in both the single cam and dual cam divisions. Jay Ingersoll led the way with 12 wins in the DOHC class followed by Jason Peck with two wins and Kerrie Hollenback with one victory. In the SOHC class, Ken Hollenback led the way with seven wins followed by Wayne Russell Jr. with five; Bruce Liddle, Tim Warner, and Stephen Burka all with one feature win apiece. Ingersoll (DOHC) and Russell Jr. (SOHC) were crowned the 2025 Track Champions in their respective classes.
The Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame & Museum will be open during the Montgomery County Open two day racing event, Friday September 26 from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday September 27 from 12-6 p.m. A church service with Pastor Greg Nitz will be held on Saturday at 12 noon. As their post on Facebook says regarding the Hall of Fame & Museum, “come for the history and leave with the memories.”

Since 1953, the Track of Champions Fonda Speedway has hosted the best in stock car racing. The speedway operates weekly on Saturday nights from April through August plus several special events.
