PALMER’S SERVICE CENTER PRESENTS RACING AT FONDA THIS SATURDAY, JULY 5 & IT WILL ALSO BE NYSSCA AWARDS NIGHT

Fonda, NY – The “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway began a busy month of July last Wednesday with the running of the Firecracker 50. This Saturday, July 5, Palmer’s Service Center presents Independence Day weekend racing at Fonda with all regular divisions in action including the Amsterdam Truck Center Modifieds, the Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman, the Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks, the Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman, and the Fonda Fair Four Cylinders.

The held over Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stock feature from June 28 will also be held!

Alton and Carole Palmer have been a part of the Fonda Speedway for most of their lives in one way or another. Alton as a record setting driver in the Sportsman division who also has wins in the Modified division. Carole as a president of the Kid’s Club at one point and the car owner who is known to all jokingly as “The General.” But one thing that has never changed is their love for racing and for the Fonda Speedway as they sponsor events at the track year after year and sponsor many race cars in many different divisions at the “Track of Champions” as well.

The New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA) will also present monetary awards to drivers who are members of the organization on Saturday evening at Fonda. In each of the feature events in all regular divisions except the Four Cylinders, the top finishing NYSSCA member across the finish line will receive $100 and a NYSSCA hat while the second NYSSCA member to cross the finish line will receive $75 and a NYSSCA hat.

For the Four-Cylinder drivers, the top dual cam NYSSCA member, and the top single cam NYSSCA member will each receive $100 along with a NYSSCA hat. There will also be a drawing for a $50 wild card for all NYSSCA members not already receiving cash.

To be eligible for the NYSSCA awards you need to be a member of the NYSSCA organization but if you are not you may sign up with Fonda Speedway NYSSCA representative Bonnie Mortensen on Saturday at Fonda. Bonnie will either be going through the pit area on Saturday to sign up members or at the Mark and Brett Mortensen 1M & 1B trailers in the pit area where she will be until hot laps begin.

Anyone is eligible to become a NYSSCA member for $25, which helps support the organization's efforts. In addition to the "NYSSCA Night" at all of their member tracks, the organization also offers a benefit fund to injured members. Any member who is out of work due to an injury sustained at a sanctioned racing event receives $150/week for up to 26 weeks once medical documentation has been received by the organization.

If you are a race fan that gets to the track early, be sure to check out the history of the Fonda Speedway at the Fonda Speedway Museum & Hall of Fame which is located on the Fonda Fairgrounds at the rear of the parking area going down towards turn four. The museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on race days and admission is free!

Fonda Speedway weekly feature winners, their race teams, and sponsors are invited the following week to display their cars at the museum and watch their feature win on Flo before the races. The victorious car display can begin as early as 3:00, and you are welcome to arrive and stay as late as your schedule allows.

This Saturday at Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame and Museum The Palmer’s Service Center sponsored cars will be on display on none other than Palmer’s Service Center night at the Fonda Speedway! Stop over, meet the drivers, take pictures, reminisce!
