Another Chapter Written: Fonda 200 Weekend Set for Sept. 12-14

FONDA, NY – Another chapter written.

The Fonda 200 – an event with a legacy dating back to 1955 when legendary Junior Johnson won the inaugural – continues its rich history Thursday-Saturday Sept. 12-14 at Fonda Speedway. The weekend is highlighted by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco 200-lap event offering $53,000 to the winner.

Three days of on-track activity comprise the popular ‘200’ weekend at the Track of Champions.

Saturday’s (Sept. 14) program is headlined by the historic ‘200’ running for the Amsterdam Truck Center STSS River Valley Builders North Region Modifieds plus a 40-lap, $2,500-to-win program for the Swagger Factory Apparel STSS Crate 602 Sportsman of the Madsen Overhead Doors North Region. B-Mains for both divisions will precede their main events.

On Friday (Sept. 13), STSS Modified Qualifiers (15 laps each), STSS Crate 602 Sportsman Qualifiers (12 laps each), Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks and Fonda Fair Four Cylinders are on the card.

Pro Stocks compete for a $1,000 top prize and Four Cylinders will enjoy some additional cash, as well. The Single and Dual Cam winners each take home $150 from the speedway plus $100 courtesy of Kar-Fab to the Single and Dual Cam winners plus $50 from the Single and Dual Cam runner-up finishers. Swagger Factory Apparel will add $50 to the Single and Dual Cam winners, as well.

2024 Fonda Speedway champions will be honored during Opening Ceremonies on Friday.

After the completion of racing, the Rockwood Band will perform on the Entertainment Building Stage for two hours starting at 10:30 p.m.

Thursday (Sept. 12) features the ‘Ultimate Underdog 33’ for non-winning 2024 Modified drivers paying $2,000 to the winner plus Montgomery County Office for Aging Limited Sportsman ($500 to win) and Online Performance Parts/Stone Motorsports Street Stocks ($500 to win). The Street Stocks have been moved to Thursday from their originally scheduled Friday date.

All divisions are welcome on Thursday for open practice sessions.

Since 1953, the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway has hosted the best in stock car racing. Under the management of BD Motorsports Media LLC, the speedway will operate weekly on Saturday nights from April through August plus several special events.
