Trenca Moves Up Patriot Sprint Tour Championship Standings Following Top 10 at Fonda

Inside Line Promotions – FONDA, N.Y. (May 31, 2017) – Joe Trenca continued his consistency in the 360ci winged sprint car ranks last weekend when he earned his fifth consecutive top-10 finish this season.

The Mucci Motorsports driver has recorded a top 10 during every 360 sprint car start this year and thanks to an eighth-place result last Saturday at Fonda Speedway Trenca now ranks second in the Patriot Sprint Tour American championship standings.

“We had a bad pill draw that put us at the back of a pretty good heat race to start the night,” he said. “The track was pretty fast so it was tough to make a lot of moves.”

Trenca maneuvered from eighth to fifth place in the heat race. That relegated him to the dash, in which he advanced from fifth to second place to earn the 10th starting position for the main event.

“We rode around for a while,” he said. “I got by a couple of cars and then another with two laps to go. There were two cars in front of me in turns three and four on the last lap. I dove to the bottom and cleared both guys, but a lapped car lost it in front of me. I had to back out and the two cars got back by me.”

Trenca’s eighth-place finish is his best result ever at the track.

Friday’s event at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y., rained out.

Trenca will return to Patriot Sprint Tour competition this weekend with races on Friday at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, N.Y., and Saturday at Fulton Speedway in Fulton, N.Y.

He placed 12th in 2015 during his only race at Ransomville Speedway.

“I’m not really sure what to expect,” he said. “This Friday will be their first race of the year because they’ve had so many rain outs. I like the place. It’s a fast joint that gets a good cushion up top.”

Trenca earned a seventh-place result at Fulton Speedway earlier this year.
