Fonda Speedway 2020 Season Opener Will Have to Wait Until May

FONDA, NY – The 2020 season at Fonda Speedway will have to wait until May.

Following a virtual Fonda Fair Board meeting, held via Conference Call on Wednesday evening, it was announced no activities would take place on the fairgrounds during the month of April – including auto racing – to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

As a result, the 2020 Season Opener at the Track of Champions will be postponed until Saturday, May 2.

The season had been slated to kick-start on April 11 with Open Practice, followed by back-to-back racing events on April 18 and 25.

As stated previously by the BD Motorsports Media LLC management team, this is an unprecedented and constantly changing situation. Make-up dates will be scheduled as needed with the full support of the Fonda Fair Board.

“We need to let this whole situation play out,” speedway promoter Brett Deyo said. “Once we get the ‘green light’ to go racing, we will make schedule adjustments to ensure our season pass holders, marketing partners, fans and competitors are able to enjoy the ‘Track of Champions’ as frequently as possible.

“No one is more anxious to go racing then us (the Fonda promotional group). We made a $65,000-plus investment in the new surface. We can’t wait to put race cars on it and see the results.”

Keep posted to the speedway website and social media channels for further information.

FONDA, NY – The full-fender Pro Stock division at Fonda Speedway pleases the crowd at the half-mile track week-after-week.

FONDA, NY – A pair of industry leaders have joined forces for the 2020 season.

Mirabito, the leading energy products supplier for families and businesses throughout upstate New York, Pennsylvania, western Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut, has entered into a marketing partnership with Fonda Speedway, the historic half-mile oval on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds hosting weekly auto racing since 1953.

The Mirabito brand will be prevalent at the ‘Track of Champions’ this race season through a full-year partnership.

Mirabito’s presence will include a 10- by 30-foot billboard along the ‘Mighty Mohawk’ on the resurfaced clay oval’s backstretch.

Race fans and competitors will benefit from $1,000 worth of complimentary Mirabito gift cards distributed via giveaways at the speedway throughout the season.

“We are very pleased to have the Mirabito brand associated with Fonda Speedway,” Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media LLC. “Mirabito is a company with a strong history which goes hand-in-hand with the Saturday tradition of auto racing at Fonda.”

Speedway general manager Jamie Page echoed that statement.

“We’re proud to be associated with Mirabito,” he said. “The name is well-known in the area and brings added credibility to our program.”

Since 1927, Mirabito has been family owned and operated. Mirabito Energy Products offers heating oil, propane, natural gas, coal, gasoline, diesel fuels and kerosene. They also offer a complete line of home heating equipment, installation and service.

In addition to being an energy provider, Mirabito owns and operates 109 convenience stores throughout Central New York, making Mirabito a convenient stop for customers and one of the largest convenience store chains in Central New York.
