PENNSYLAVANIA’S JORDON THOMAS WINS CRSA SPRINT OPENER AT FONDA SPEEDWAY

PENNSYLAVANIA’S JORDON THOMAS WINS CRSA SPRINT OPENER AT FONDA SPEEDWAY

Fonda, New York - 04/25/15…

The CRSA 305 Sprint Cars took to the track to begin their tenth season at the historic Fonda Speedway in Fonda, New York. A strong field of sprint cars signed in after a long winter to compete in the first race of the twenty one race CRSA Sprint Car Tour. This also marks the first race of the Kennedy's Towing "Northway-90 Challenge" series.

Chad King and Casey Williams lead the field to the season’s first green flag. King grabbed the top spot over Williams, Mike Kiser, and Jordon Thomas. The first caution flew with the Scott Flammers sprinter coming to rest in turn four. As the green came back out the cars of Warren Alexson and Thomas Radivoy came together forcing Kenny Marshall to throw the second caution of the event.

When racing resumed, Williams kept the pressure on King with young Thomas moving into the third position. Williams would make a move to the front and take the top spot from King with Thomas in his tracks. Thomas, the second generation driver, powered past Williams just after the halfway mark.
With action hot and heavy the car of Emily VanInwegen came to a stop in turn one. Williams was unable to avoid the stopped sprinter and went into a series of rolls severely damaging his car ending a great run. Thomas continued out front followed by King, Kiser and Corey Sparks. When the checkered flag flew after twenty laps of hard racing Thomas claimed the Opening Night win. Sparks, Kiser, King, and Goodrich rounded out the top five.

SPRINT NOTES: Jordon Thomas made the over three hour tow from his Harding, Pennsylvania home. Thomas’s father “Spyder” cut his teeth racing on the tough central Pennsylvania 410 circuit. Defending point champion John Matrafailo was a Did Not Start. The Schaeffer Oil heat winners were Scott Flammer, Emily VanInwegen, and Dan Hennessy with Steve Meilleur winning the Hannay Reels Dash.

The CRSA will be back in action this Saturday, May 2nd at the legendary Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York for round two of their 2015 campaign followed by Penn Can Speedway May 8th.
